Festival or Organisation description:
St Andrews Voices is a festival with a prestigious track-record and an ambitious future. It launched to great acclaim in 2012, and since then has grown to become a much-loved fixture in the local calendar and an important part of Scotland’s cultural landscape. Its unique focus on the voice has led to an extraordinary diversity of performances and projects, encompassing choirs of all shapes and sizes, opera, folk, Lieder, jazz, cabaret, a cappella, early music, new commissions, international artists and home-grown talent. In addition, outreach plays an important role in the festival's mission, and each year masterclasses, workshops and education projects add to the programme.
“St Andrews Voices festival has rightly found a distinctive, valued place among Scotland’s wealth of musical events. And its distinctive focus – as its title suggests, on the voice, in all its richness and diversity – brings with it a ready-made wealth of styles and repertoire, which the festival embraces with gratifying enthusiasm.” (The Scotsman)
'St Andrews [Voices] is one of the few fetsivals anywhere to focus entirely on the voices in all its glory... an extraordinary festival... the variety is tremendous' (BBC Radio 3)
