Annual International Jane Austen Festival in Bath UK. 2017 is an important bicentenary year being both the 200th anniversary of the Author's death and the publication of her two Bath novels Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. During the course of ten days, over 80 events will take place throughout the city during this the longest running and largest Festival on Austen in the world. In this bicentenary year special events are planned, everything from workshops on dancing and tea to minibus tours of the city and novel locations, also superb concerts, duologues with surprise guests, a brand new theatrical production of Northanger Abbey, costume talks, literary discussions, foody events, ghost walks and light-hearted presentations on the macabre world of the gothic. Now in its 17th year with thousands of visitors from all over the world, the Jane Austen Festival is famous for its Grand Regency Costumed Promenade through the city of Bath and its stunning Regency Costumed Masked Ball in the historic Pump Rooms and Roman Baths. The Festival attracts as many participants in 21st Century clothing as those wishing to dress Regency style throughout the ten days and everyone is welcome. Each event is ticketed and the prices vary from free for the novel reading to £100+ for the Regency Costumed Masked Ball.
On 1st July the bicentenary Regency Costumed Summer Ball will take place at the beautiful 18th Century Banqueting Room of the Guildhall, in the Centre of Bath with an afternoon dance workshop to practise for the ball in the evening.
