Artistic Director, Presteigne Festival
George Vass has held the post of Artistic Director of the Presteigne Festival since 1992, having also been Artistic Director of the Hampstead and Highgate Festival from 2004 until 2009. He is founder Artistic Director of Nova Music and currently serves the Bushey Symphony Orchestra, City of Canterbury Chamber Choir and St Albans Choral Society as Music Director.
In his dual career as conductor and festival director, George Vass maintains a strong interest in the performance and promotion of contemporary music. Over the last twenty odd years he has commissioned and premiered a variety of new works from leading composers including Sally Beamish, Martin Butler, Gabriel Jackson, Pawel Lukaszewski, David Matthews, John McCabe, Cecilia McDowall, Paul Patterson, Peter Sculthorpe, Huw Watkins and Hugh Wood.
Event Co-ordinator, BBC Proms & Live Events (Radio 3)
Julia Vivian graduated from Royal Holloway University in 2007 with a degree in music. She joined the BBC Symphony Orchestra in 2010 and moved to the BBC Proms & Radio 3 Live Events team in 2012. As Events Coordinator she has organised the logistics for a host of different concerts including Kiss Me Kate with the John Wilson Orchestra, Paloma Faith, Ten Pieces and the Last Night of the Proms and has worked with most of the major UK and touring orchestras and choirs. She has also worked on Radio 3 events such as the Free Thinking Festival and recent residencies at Wellcome Collection and Southbank Centre.
