2017 will mark the tenth year of the Festival of Ideas, a University of Cambridge public engagement initiative that celebrates the arts, humanities and social sciences by showcasing a diverse mix of inspirational talks, performances, films, exhibitions and other creative displays.
Last year, the Festival welcomed over 20,000 visitors to over 220 events and received extensive national and local media coverage including articles in the Guardian, BBC website, Telegraph, and Huffington Post amongst others. The Festival has featured many world-renowned speakers over the years, such as Richard Dawkins, Anthony Giddens, Melvyn Bragg, Quentin Blake, Kate Adie, Marcus du Sautoy, David Starkey and Evan Davis.
The Festival of Ideas was piloted in 2008 with the aim of encouraging the public to explore the arts, humanities and social sciences, meet academics and students, and engage with the University via a thought-provoking and creative series of mostly free events.
